When the ship clears
- Docking is often around 6:00 AM on the final morning (weather and ports can shift this).
- Disembarkation commonly starts around 7:30 AM, with Disney aiming to have guests off by roughly 9:00 AM when things run on time.
- Flights: for most home ports, skip anything earlier than about 11:30 AM unless you have Express Walk-Off, live near the airport, and are comfortable with risk. Confirm the guidance Disney posts for your sailing.

Set yourself up before you sleep
- Check your Folio in Navigator (charges, Wi‑Fi, photos, spa). Dispute anything odd before you leave the ship.
- Confirm gratuities — automatic service charges and any adjustments. Overview: gratuities guide.
- Choose your exit style in Navigator when Disney offers it:
- Regular / assisted luggage — place tagged bags in the corridor by the posted time; you’ll claim them in the terminal after leaving the ship.
- Express Walk-Off (self-assist) — you keep all luggage with you overnight and walk off with it in the morning. Faster if you can roll everything and don’t mind living out of bags.
- Attach Disney luggage tags to every bag you’re sending ashore. Keep one soft bag / backpack as your overnight carry.
- Overnight carry must include: meds, passports/IDs, phones + chargers, jewelry/valuables, tickets/boarding passes, a change of clothes if you need it, and anything you’d be stuck without if a tagged bag is delayed.
- Kids’ comfort items stay with you — don’t put the only pacifier or favorite stuffed animal in a tagged bag.
- Port alcohol or held purchases — if Disney held bottles from shore days, collect them when instructed (often with luggage flow).
- Pack decorations / Fish Extenders the night before if you’re not Express Walk-Off; leave the corridor clean for stewards.
— Express Walk-Off tip
If you pick Express Walk-Off, treat the last night like a hotel checkout: bags packed, carry-ons ready by the door, and nothing left hanging on the stateroom door that you care about keeping.
Breakfast → gangway → bags
- Wake with a buffer — docking announcements, elevator crowds, and last-minute Folio checks take longer than you think.
- Breakfast — usually open early in main venues. Eat before your group is called if kids melt down when hungry.
- Kids clubs are typically closed or limited on disembarkation morning — don’t plan a last Oceaneer drop-off.
- Listen for your group / watch Navigator — walk-off is staggered. Don’t line up an hour early blocking corridors.
- Key to the World cards stay with you until you’re fully off (you may still need them for Folio or photos).
- Customs / immigration — have passports or accepted IDs ready; follow crew directions for your home port.
- Claim tagged luggage in the terminal (unless Express Walk-Off). Tip porters if they help you to rideshare / shuttle / parking.
- Ground transport — Disney transfers, rideshare, rental cars, and port parking each have different post-cruise waits. Compare: departure ports guide.
Airport, parking, and open-jaw sailings
- Same-day flights: build in port exit + bag claim + traffic + airport security. Early domestic flights are the #1 last-morning stressor.
- Port parking: know whether you prepay, keep the ticket with you, and how long the walk/shuttle is after debarkation.
- Open-jaw / repositioning cruises (different embark and debark cities) — confirm the debark airport, not the one you flew into on day one. Example notes: Panama Canal sailings.
- Souvenir overflow — popcorn buckets and shop finds are bulky; leave soft-bag space or ship items home earlier if you’re already at weight limits.
