Documents and the app
- Port Arrival Form / online check-in done. Castaway Club tiers open earlier; first-timers open later. Pick the earliest arrival group you can if short lines and more ship time matter. Details: Castaway Club.
- IDs match Disney’s rules for your itinerary — passport strongly recommended even on closed-loop sailings. See the passport FAQ.
- Disney Cruise Line Navigator app installed and signed in before you’re in a dead Wi-Fi zone at the terminal.
- Carry-on ready: meds, swimsuit, change of clothes, devices/chargers, door magnets, and anything you need before checked bags arrive.
Arrival group → Key to the World
- Arrive in your assigned port arrival window — earlier isn’t always better if security is still opening; later can mean longer outdoor waits.
- Drop checked bags with porters (tip customary) before you enter security when the terminal offers that flow.
- Security + check-in — have booking confirmation / Port Arrival QR and IDs ready.
- Key to the World cards are your room key, charge card, and youth-club ID. Keep them on a lanyard once onboard.
- Photo stop / gangway — smile, then head onboard. Your stateroom may not be ready yet; public spaces and lunch are.
Must-dos before sail-away
- Lunch — usually quick-service / buffet venues while rooms clear. Eat before you explore if the kids are already hangry.
- Register kids for Oceaneer Club / Edge / Vibe on embarkation day so you’re not stuck in a line during dinner. Nursery is separate (reservation + fee). See kids clubs by age.
- Walk kids’ areas while adults can still tour — on embarkation day families can often preview clubs before they become kids-only later in the cruise.
- Open Navigator — confirm muster / safety drill instructions, character times, and dinner seating.
- Stateroom check-in when announced (often mid-afternoon). Bags can arrive later — unpack carry-ons first.
- Door magnets / Fish Extenders once you’re in the cabin corridor. Rules: door decorations.
- Safety drill — mandatory; plan around it before sail-away photos.
- Sail-away — deck party energy on most ships; adults-only pools wait until later if you need quiet.

Checked luggage is delivered to your stateroom throughout the afternoon — not all at once. Pack evening clothes and meds in carry-on so you’re never waiting on a bag for dinner.
