Overview

The Disney Destiny set sail in November 2025 as the third Wish-class ship, themed around the conflict between Disney heroes and villains. She sails shorter 4- and 5-night Bahamas and Western Caribbean itineraries from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale — a good fit for first-time cruisers or families working with a tighter vacation window. In 2026, she was named to Travel + Leisure's "It List" as one of the year's best new ships.

Staterooms

Staterooms carry artwork themed to Hercules, Mulan, Merida, and Sorcerer Mickey from Fantasia. Concierge suites and staterooms lean into the Fantasia theme, and the Royal Suites include a Hercules-themed suite with Greco-Roman details and an Incredibles-themed "IncrediSuite" with a mid-century modern look. The two-story Destiny Tower Suite, set in the forward funnel, is themed to Iron Man. As on every DCL ship, the split-bathroom layout and connecting-door options run throughout.

What most people don’t know happens on the Destiny

The Destiny looks impressive on a deck plan, but the ship is really built to be discovered in person. Imagineers packed it with story details, timed light shows, and character moments that don’t show up in any brochure. The Grand Hall runs on its own clock

The three-story atrium, called the Grand Hall, is themed to Black Panther and Wakanda: a Vibranium-inspired chandelier, pillar metalwork echoing Wakandan armor, and a bronze-and-silver T’Challa statue at its center — the first time a Marvel character has anchored the atrium of a Disney ship. The room isn’t static. Its lighting shifts through the day, from bright, hopeful gold tones in the morning to moodier blues at night, and it can wash in neon green whenever a villain character makes an appearance.

What time does it change? There’s no printed schedule — it responds in real time to whatever character or performance is happening in the space, so the mood can shift multiple times an hour depending on when Loki, Dr. Facilier, or a scheduled show like Sounds of Wakanda is active there.

Kiss Goodnight: the nightly light show most guests miss

Every night, the Grand Hall closes out with a roughly 2.5-minute light-and-music show called the Kiss Goodnight, built around the chandelier — itself designed after the meteorite that brought vibranium to Wakanda — with additional lighting woven into the stairs, railings, and ceiling, all synced to the score from the Black Panther films.

What time is it? On-ship reports don’t agree. Some early cruisers and press coverage clocked it at midnight. Other detailed trip reports from later sailings place it earlier, around 10 or 11 p.m., and note that the exact time can shift depending on which night of the cruise you’re on — worth checking your Navigator app’s daily schedule each afternoon rather than assuming it repeats at the same hour every night.

On the final night of a sailing, the evening in the Grand Hall gets a bigger sendoff: the Kiss Goodnight is followed roughly 15 minutes later by “Sea You Real Soon,” featuring the Fab Five characters and the Disney princesses, and then “Destiny Discovered” about 15 minutes after that — a farewell celebration with a wider cast of characters, including Loki, Black Panther, and Maleficent.

Kiss Goodnightmares

On select nights, the standard Kiss Goodnight gets swapped for a darker version nicknamed “Kiss Goodnightmares.” The chandelier glows with an eerie tint instead of its usual warm light, and a villain crashes the show with a surprise stage appearance. Because it isn’t guaranteed every night and happens late, it’s easy to miss entirely if you head to bed early — cruisers who’ve sailed multiple nights say it’s worth checking in on the Grand Hall each evening, since the show genuinely changes depending on who turns up.

Characters who aren’t on any schedule

Rather than sticking strictly to posted showtimes, a handful of characters roam and “take over” the Grand Hall unannounced:

• Loki periodically declares himself ruler of the ship and pulls guests into playful chaos and impromptu competitions.
• Dr. Facilier turns up with card tricks and a little menace “from the other side.”

Both appearances trigger the room’s lighting and music to shift in real time to match the character on stage — which is part of why the atrium’s mood can change so unpredictably throughout a cruise.

Hidden details in the lounges

The Sanctum, the ship’s Doctor Strange–themed lounge, hides one of the most missable items on the entire ship: the Eye of Agamotto, the artifact that held the Time Stone throughout the Marvel movies, tucked into the decor in a spot easy to walk past without noticing. The Cloak of Levitation is also mounted behind the bar in a hard-to-spot location, and the shelving includes spell books referencing the Book of the Vishanti and the Darkhold from the comics.

There’s also a genuine secret menu here. On the bar’s iPad drink list, tracing the number “33” on the screen unlocks a hidden set of cocktails — an homage to Disneyland’s exclusive Club 33 — including a bright blue drink called the Ocean Liner.

At De Vil’s, the Cruella-themed piano lounge, keep an eye out for car-inspired pilasters and Dalmatian spots worked into the design — a wink to the character’s origins, since the space is built around glamour with an edge rather than being just another cocktail bar.

At the Haunted Mansion Parlor, the bar’s mirror occasionally reveals ghostly figures, the wall portraits appear to follow guests as they move through the room, and Beauty and the Beast’s Lumière shows up glowing among the gothic decor — a crossover cameo most guests don’t expect to find there.

Details built into the architecture itself

• Stairwells double as art galleries. The forward staircases are themed to villains, done in green, red, and purple tones with angular shapes, while the aft staircases celebrate heroes in airy blues and curves — the color and line work is intentional storytelling, not just decoration.
• Mickey is hidden throughout, and he’s always pointing forward. His silhouette shows up in stateroom carpeting, nautical flag patterns, clocks, corridor details, and light fixtures — and Imagineers designed it so that wherever Mickey appears, he faces toward the bow of the ship.
• Two firsts on the hull. Hero Minnie appears on the bow, and Spider-Man is featured on the stern — the first time a Marvel character has been used on a Disney Cruise Line ship’s hull.
• Lightning bolts point the way. Bolts worked into the carpeting and décor throughout the ship all point toward the bow, echoing the “villain” side of the heroes-and-villains theme while symbolizing the ship’s forward motion.
• The number seven is everywhere. Since Destiny is the seventh ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the design team wove the number in as a running motif — seven heroes represented through lighter tones and curves, seven villains through darker tones and angular accents, scattered across different spaces for guests to spot.
• Cask and Cannon’s ceiling has a fleet tribute. The ceiling murals in this Deck 5 bar include seven small ships — one for each vessel in the Disney Cruise Line fleet — and, according to crew, a subtle “Est. 1706” nod to the ship’s hull number, 706.
