What to book, what to skip
- Book Disney when: the beach or adventure is farther out, traffic is unpredictable, or you want the ship-wait guarantee.
- Go independent when: you’re staying in the downtown / Malecón corridor with taxis and a conservative return time.
- Skip: long inland day trips that eat your buffer on a standard call.
- Skip: trying to “see all of PV” — pick one neighborhood job.

- Taxis. Abundant at the pier. Settle price before you ride; round-trip arrangements matter for beach days.
- Heat + walking. The Malecón is lovely and also exposed — plan shade, water, and a sit-down lunch break.

What to eat ashore
- Downtown. Seafood, tacos, and plaza restaurants a block or two off the densest souvenir strip usually feel better than the first menu you see.
- Beach clubs. Included lunch packages keep the day simple.
- Street smart. Busy places with turnover are the usual short-cruise approach.
What’s worth bringing home
- Downtown markets & shops. Pottery, textiles, silver, and souvenirs — set a budget; haggling varies by stall vs fixed-price store.
- Pier / cruise retail. Convenience priced for ship traffic. Fine for forgotten sunscreen.
With kids in daylight
- Stick to tourist corridors, known clubs, and booked operators for adventure days.
- Sun, heat, and traffic are the usual risks. Hats, reef-safe sunscreen, water.
- Cross streets carefully — downtown can be busy.
- Cash for taxis and tips; cards work widely in tourist areas — carry a backup.
Work backward from all-aboard
- Traffic between pier, downtown, and beaches is the silent schedule killer.
- If you take a beach club, leave earlier than the “it’s only 20 minutes” estimate.
- Downtown days still need a hard turnaround time — Malecón walks expand easily.
